Better Than Flowers

For Father's Day this year I got a little crafty.  Greg and I had been trying to figure out what to do on this bare wall in the hallway which is rather narrow and dark for displaying art but still a fairly sizable piece of real estate.  So it's been one of the only untouched spaces in the whole house and rather dull if I'm being honest.  Then I found these super cool Polaroid looking frames at Aaron Brothers that come nine to a pack.  You just slip a photo in, stick the supplied tacks into the back of the frame and push them into the wall like push pins.    I liked the idea of just doing Polaroids but weirdly the cameras are no longer that easy to find and the film is spendy.  The girls and I went through photos and picked out some faves then went to work.  The whole thing took a couple of hours including the break for Father's Day sushi at Katsuya but was totally worth it.  Greggers was definitely surprised by his Father's Day installation and it works perfectly in our hallway which, because of it's narrow width, can't house any type of art that you need more than a 2 1/2 foot distance to appreciate.  These photos are 4x4 and you actually need to stand close to appreciate the whole and the individual pieces.   I'm thinking of getting a few more packs of frames and adding another few photos to each strip to expand our heart.  This would have also been cute over our bed but that would have been a harder surprise to execute and we already have an incredible painting by the supremely talented Brandi Milne in that space.  I'll post an image of that soon.  It's beyond!

June Gloom

Here in Los Angeles we have what's called the June Gloom which is Mother Nature's way of crapping on the last day of school.  Summer break has started but it's suddenly sweater weather again.  Days like this it's hard not to take to my bed and troll Netflix for something suitable.  Best gloomy day movies: Shawshank Redemption, Searching For Bobby Fischer, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and any Richard Curtis movie.  Mother Nature made her move now I'm making mine.  I think a cozy day in bed actually make me the winner, right?

Pink Buddha

If there were to be an appropriate start to a blog it seems like the pink Buddha would really be it, right?  Even if you're not Buddhist or from LA I think we can all agree that this little guy just makes you feel good.  Inspired even.  When I see the pink Buddha I want to be a better person, a better me.  So to you I gift the pink Buddha.  Steal this image and make it the screen saver on your iPhone.  Or don't. Whatever. I can't be bothered right now because I'm immersed in my momentary pink Buddha bliss.  So what is the blog about you ask?  Well first off, don't try to limit me with your parameters and just bookmark me and know that every few days when you check back there will be something interesting to burn onto your corneas and subconscious... and there will be clothes and ideas about clothes.
