You Compose The Soundtrack To Your Kids' Lives

Okay, so we have two gorgeous little girls that, like all children, LOVE music and love to sing along to music.  Many of our parent friends have told us how they've lost control of the car stereo and only get to listen to Radio Disney or Miley Cyrus CDs.  I'm not saying that Miley or Disney don't expose your kids to ANY good music but let's agree that the world of music is broader and more interesting than what you can get from just one radio station or genre of music.  Our kids like Miley Cyrus but they also appreciate the score to Shakespeare In Love, Arcade Fire, The Strokes, Adele, Dashboard Confessional, Lily Allen, the Rude Boy radio channel on Rhapsody, Sirius XMU, REM, the Beastie Boys, etc., so on and so forth, you get my point, shut up already!  My point is that kids can love the music you love and you're the one setting the tone for the soundtrack to your child's (and your own) life.  I make a new mixed CD for the car ride to school every month or so and the kids love to hear what the new "Car-Tunes" are.  Below are some of my favorite childrens' choirs.

This is PS 22 in Staten Island's 5th grade chorus performing "Lisztomania" by Phoenix.
How happy are these kids and how big of a rock star is their music teacher?
This makes me so happy!!!

This is the Capitol Children's Choir's performing "Chinese" by Lily Allen.

Someone please explain to does this even happen?
Isn't it amazing that there are people born into this world with minds like this?

Deadly Dinnerware

Above our piano we have a plate collection of vintage china.  Sounds like a visit to Grandma's house right?  Not when Trixie Delicious has her way.  She's the mastermind behind the Seven Deadly Sins plates that have become our little installation above the superfly turn of the century Steinway my parents gave us that we had restored then tricked out in a light metal flake blue lacquer.  Trixie Delicious or Vandalized Vintage can be found through Etsy or Google and she's got mad China skills.  Turns any dinner party or bare wall into quite a shocking experience.  Just inherited some beautiful little dishes from my Granny that I may mount along side theses at some point...unless I add them to the dining room bizarre dinnerware art installation we have going in there.  Will post that another time.
