Okay, so we have two gorgeous little girls that, like all children, LOVE music and love to sing along to music. Many of our parent friends have told us how they've lost control of the car stereo and only get to listen to Radio Disney or Miley Cyrus CDs. I'm not saying that Miley or Disney don't expose your kids to ANY good music but let's agree that the world of music is broader and more interesting than what you can get from just one radio station or genre of music. Our kids like Miley Cyrus but they also appreciate the score to Shakespeare In Love, Arcade Fire, The Strokes, Adele, Dashboard Confessional, Lily Allen, the Rude Boy radio channel on Rhapsody, Sirius XMU, REM, the Beastie Boys, etc., so on and so forth, you get my point, shut up already! My point is that kids can love the music you love and you're the one setting the tone for the soundtrack to your child's (and your own) life. I make a new mixed CD for the car ride to school every month or so and the kids love to hear what the new "Car-Tunes" are. Below are some of my favorite childrens' choirs.
This is PS 22 in Staten Island's 5th grade chorus performing "Lisztomania" by Phoenix.
How happy are these kids and how big of a rock star is their music teacher?
This makes me so happy!!!
This is the Capitol Children's Choir's performing "Chinese" by Lily Allen.
Stunning!
