Quit talking and start f%#king walking!

My father in law Bill, who I love (I really lucked out in the in law lottery) had me read an article in one of the many business magazines he reads during his last visit. It was an interview with one of those dudes that help companies maximize there potential. There was a quote in the article that really rocked me. He said "When I look at a company... I look at what they do rather than what they say they do." Hmmm

I've been saying I want to design clothes since I was a kid. I tell everyone that's where I'm headed but until about two weeks ago I was only just saying that. Using my band as an excuse I've begun the process of not just saying but doing. Yesterday my buddy and partner in design Angelo and I silkscreened two new T-Shirts to celebrate the release of a new Reigning Monarchs Ep ALL SUMMER SINGLE out this July. We did this by hand in my dumb garage. The shirts will be sold in advance of the release to pay for the mastering of the 3 tracks we are set to begin recording tomorrow. Lat week Mike Eisenstein the other half of the Monarchs and I had a fitting for pants that I sourced and designed for our gig the 22nd of June at Rusty's Surf Ranch in Santa Monica. I'm using the band as a reason to do rather than to say I do. If you want to do something you just gotta just fucking do it. TODAY. None of this will make me a dime. In fact I stand to lose a little, but it feels right. It feels like the beginning of something. And that's always the best part. Lets hope this goes somewhere 'cause it's really fucking fun. OTE

  2. Your threads will be brilliant! Kinda' have to wonder, though, what happens when what you want to do requires the collaboration/permission of powerful others? Here's my dumb-ass example-I want to do visual art work for a musician, I actually have significant ability, too. But wouldn't you know it, standing on the shoulders of giants is harder than it looks. How do you "just fucking do it" when 'it' is not about only your own power and ability?

  4. This makes me think I should pull an Alex and move to London or Hawaii after I sell my house. Else wise, I'll end up and old man in this town thinking how I wish I would have. You really do have your inspirational moments. How 'bout that, bro? ;)
